Electronic equipment is critical to paranormal investigating. The mechanics of each piece of equipment is more sensitive to sight and sound than the human eye or ear, thus resulting in visual and auditory stimuli which may not be seen or heard in person at the time it’s actually happening.
NPIS uses an array of professional electronic equipment to capture or discredit paranormal activity. Below is the equipment NPIS uses on every investigation. (Though NPIS may possess more than one of each of the below items, only one of each item is listed).

DVR (Digital Video Recorder)
Professional observation and recording system with infrared (IR) cameras. Cameras automatically switch from shooting in color to shooting in night vision in low light and zero lux (completely dark) settings.

Voice Recorder
Digital audio recorder. This small recorder produces crisp, clear playback without the audio contamination (hissing and popping) which is produced with analog tape recorders.

Digital Camera
The most common tool of paranormal investigating. Any photographic device will capture energy unseen by the naked eye.

Digital EMF (electromagnetic field) Meter
Measures electromagnetic field radiation. It will detect fluctuations in electromagnetic fields and traveling EMF fields that have no source. It is a common theory that spirits disrupt this field in such a way that you can tell if one is present by higher than normal readings with this meter. This meter is also a helpful tool for discrediting claims of paranormal activity, as it can track the source of the high energy readings and discredit false claims of paranormal activity.

K-II Meter
The K-II meter has 5 colored LED lights, each one signifying different amounts of electromagnetic energy detection. The first light will illuminate around low readngs of energy and continue down the line until the last light is lit, meaning a high energy field is detected. One theory is you can “train” spirits to use this device to respond to questions asked of it, which will result in the spirit intensifying its magnetic field, therefore illuminating the lights on the meter.

TriField Natural EMF Meter
One of the most sensitive devices on the market for paranormal investigating. It can be set to ignore man-made energy (such as electrical devices), resulting in more of a chance to capture moving energy fields with no source, which at that point may very well be the energy of a spirit.

Mini-DV nightcam camcorder
Films in night vision during low light or zero lux settings.

IR Illuminator
Attaches to a mini-DV nightcam camcorder and adds strength to its infrared beam, allowing a camera to film at further distances in night vision.

Mel-Meter
Digital EMF meter/Digital thermometer/Flashlight combination device.

EM Pump
The EM (electromagnetic) Pump emits a low level magnetic field. Its interchanging outputs of energy are said to draw spirits toward it. This device has been known to help produce impressive results during EVP sessions.

Designed for use with any stationary infrared camera. Adds up to and/or over 100 feet of infrared light, allowing cameras to film at further distances in night vision.

Ghost Box (aka Spirit Box or Frank’s Box)
The Ghost Box is a basic free scan AM/FM digital radio which has been modified to open scan numerous frequency bands. The white noise generated by the ghost box as it scans frequencies can be used by spirits to manipulate into audible words.

Laser Surface Thermometer
This thermometer can easily detect cracks in surfaces, detecting leaks of air which may be mistaken for cold spots.

This thermometer reads atmospheric temperature and is a valuable tool for following cold spots.

Infrared Digital Camera
Takes pictures and records video using night vision.

Mini IR Illuminator
Designed for use with any stationary infrared camera. Adds up to 80 feet of infrared light, allowing cameras to film at further distances in night vision.

Ultra-Sensitive Microphone Recorder
Connects to a laptop and can record the faintest sounds throughout a location from any floor. It produces scroll-like visual audio waves across the screen which can either be viewed and listened to live or saved to be reviewed at a later time.

Tascam Digital Audio Recorder
Headphones can be used with this highly sensitive audio recorder, allowing the user to record and hear real-time EVP and respond to audio anamolies as they are captured.

Laser Grid (with tripod mount)
This laser emits a green grid upon a surface. The farther away from the surface the laser is, the more area along the surface the grid will cover. Twisting the head of the laser scrolls through the multiple patterns this device can produce. If any spirit in a shadow form were to come between the laser and the surface being illuminated, it will block out portions of the grid, allowing the spirit to be captured with the naked eye or on any video recording device.

Allow communication between investigators on multiple floors of a location.
